Can peripheral neuropathy be caused by stress?

We all know that stress is never good for the body. Chronic stress can cause all sorts of medical issues, including peripheral Neuropathy.

But do you have any idea why stress causes your nerves to go haywire and chronic pain to develop?

When the body is stressed, it reacts. This reaction is completely normal. After all, stress is a natural way to alert the body of trouble. Suddenly you become more aware of every sight, sound, and smell around you.

Your body tenses and your heart beat and blood pressure rise. You may become flushed as adrenaline courses through your veins. You are on alert.

While this is a good way to keep yourself out of danger, when the normal stressors of life keep you in a constant state of alert, your entire body feels it.

Your brain becomes foggier as it tries to compensate … your muscles become tired and worn … your heart is strained … and your emotional state is on edge.

None of this is good for your well-being. Over time, chronic stress will take a toll on your mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Continuous muscle tension often leads to reduced blood and oxygen flow to vital organs, fatigue, stiffness, and nerve damage.

Toxins build up in tissues, which can also attack nerve cells, and before you know it you experience pain more and more often. This is stress-induced Neuropathy

While stress alone won’t cause the kind of nerve damage experienced with chronic Neuropathy, it is a contributing factor and can make your condition worse.

Peripheral Neuropathy isn’t always easy to fix. With so many causes and so many factors that can work together to damage the nerves, it is important to understand all of the things that may be contributing to your condition.

Once you do, you will be able to use the steps to heal those frayed nerves and return your body to good health. Then and only then will you experience the kind of freedom for Neuropathy pain that you seek.
